You're receiving this because you signed up at www.fbcpaducah.org. If you'd like to quit getting these occasional newsletters just send an e-mail to unsubscribe@fbcpaducah.org with the e-mail address you want to remove in the subject. We're really very good about that.

Welcome to eConnect

On behalf of the staff at First Baptist Church of Paducah let me be the first to welcome you to our new electronic newsletter. We hope you find this new delivery method to be both informative and uplifting as we grow together as a community of believers.

This first issue of eConnect serves as a way for us to check our current database of subscribers for any errors and to give you an opportunity to see what's to come in the weeks ahead. We welcome your suggestions and/or critiques. You can send those along to my e-mail address - jkersey@fbcpaducah.org.

While I have your attention...we are in need of a few folks with some basic web understanding (html, php) to help us manage and maintain our website and internet presence. If you, or someone you know, may be interested please contact me at the e-mail address above or by calling the church at 270.442.2728 for more information. You don't have to be a web wizard to volunteer but prior web experience would be a plus.

Can't wait to see you on Sunday!

A Note from Jim

Dear Church Family -

Welcome to the new LifeLine! If you are reading this on your computer, then I hope you are finding it easy to use and navigate. If you’re reading this in a paper copy, you will notice that the format is much simpler... but all the same information is at your fingertips. If you have any questions about either version, I encourage you to let us know... by e-mail, a phone call... or just stop one of the staff in the hall. Our hope is to reduce our production and publication costs and still get you all the same information in the process. If you would like to subscribe to the electronic version, you may still do so at www.fbcpaducah.org... but please give us a call so we can remove you from the paper version mailing list. Thank you for your patience and tremendous support as we embark on this new path.

Unless you have missed the past few Sundays, you have undoubtedly noticed the wonderful air of excitement and anticipation among the First Baptist Family. It is clear that God is busy in the lives of many people.

Two weeks ago our own Blake Kersey brought us a message that is still being talked about by the church family. That same morning we saw 8 people make a public commitment to follow Jesus Christ in baptism and church membership. On May 27th we will have our first baptisms during our early worship hour... many of whom are children.

You will also recall the announcement by our Pastor Search Committee that they have narrowed their search down to one man they believe might well be God’s man for First Baptist Church. Their wonderful story of a common spirit among all the committee members simply serves to affirm and confirm God's hand in all they are doing. Please stay in prayer for the committee, the new pastor, and his family.

The Christian Life and Witness Course has also seen tremendous support. There are over 2000 people each week preparing themselves for a great move of God in September. If you missed ONE of the classes, there will be a make up Saturday, June 9, at Lone Oak First Baptist Church: Session 1 at 9:00 am, Session 2 at 10:15 am, and Session 3 at 11:30 am. Also, if you are interested in being a counselor at the Celebration, please turn in your application forms me to sign as soon as possible.

Finally, this coming Sunday at 6:00 pm, we will affirm God's clear call in Stuart Hunt's life as we ordain him to the Gospel Ministry. Stuart has grown up here in the First Baptist family and his passion and giftedness for ministry are evident to anyone who knows him. Please place this special event on your calendar as we celebrate God's work in Stuart... and as we affirm both he and his wife Amanda in their call to further ministry preparation at Southern Seminary. Following the Ordination Service, we will have a special farewell celebration for Stuart and Amanda in the Great Room. Stuart's last Sunday leading worship will be May 27th.

It's so good to be here at this time... thank you all for your tremendous support and encouragement to all our ministry and support staff. You are the greatest!

Together in Him,
Jim Ewing
