Dear Church Family -
Welcome to summer! I trust you have enjoyed our Summer Sunday Nights family special events. The Passover Celebration led by Dr. Larry Skinner and his wife Laura was a real treat. On top of a wonderful meal prepared by our kitchen staff, led by Betty Fondaw, we learned a great deal about the meaning behind the activities associated with the Passover Seder Meal. If you'd like to learn more about God's feasts, let me encourage you to obtain a copy of "The Feasts of the Lord" by Kevin Howard and Marvin Rosenthal, Nelson Publishers.
This past Sunday evening, June 24, we had an opportunity to show the film Facing the Giants. You know, I think it was my fourth or fifth time to see the movie and it still got me choked up. We need to remind ourselves continuously that God is able to do anything... and will do amazing things for His people that will trust Him by "preparing for rain" – aligning their lives around their faith in God.
This coming Sunday, we will hold our annual church family picnic... but at a different venue. In order to get the entire family together, we have changed the event to Noble Park, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm – there is not a charge to attend. We will supply the meat and drinks; we ask each family to bring a favorite side dish or dessert... and a lawn chair. In addition, we have the pool reserved for our church family. Come join us for what should be a wonderful Church Family Fun Day at Nobel Park. Dr. Brady and his family will be there... if you have not yet met them. The picnic will be held in the large pavilion. We ask you to park in the baseball field parking lot across from the pavilion unless you are a senior citizen or handicapped in which case you may park in the pavilion parking. Please Note: In the event of rain….no Sunday evening services or picnic.
Our next special event will be the Counterfeit Christianity Conference on Sunday, July 15, 2007. Our special guest will be James Walker, President of Watchman Fellowship and a former Mormon elder. Mr. Walker's ministry has been focused on helping people understand these alternative religions and how we can point them to Jesus Christ. This conference will be offered during our regular Sunday activity schedule. Mr. Walker will speak at both the 9:00 and 11:10 am worship services on the topic of Counterfeit Christianity. We will hold a combined adult Sunday School hour in the Great Room – all classes are invited to attend (free day for teachers!) – where he will discuss the Jehovah's Witness faith. Then, at 6:00 pm, following the family fellowship meal, Mr. Walker will speak to us about the Mormon faith. This event will be enlightening and encouraging... and you don’t need to give up a Friday or Saturday to attend. Normal childcare will be available for the evening activities.
Do remember to keep Dr. Brady and his family in prayer... their first Sunday with us will be July 22, 2007.
Together in Him,
Jim

Are you loving well? We all deal with people who are a joy to love and those who are more difficult to love. Come join us in the COC Conference Room for four-weeks of Bible study beginning Thursday, July 19 at 6 pm. Let’s enjoy fun and fellowship with other women, laugh our heads off, shed a few tears, make new friends, and enjoy old friends as we all learn how to love well.
Through video we will hear four heart-to-heart messages from best-selling author and teacher Beth Moore. Taped at a Living Proof Live event, Beth describes different types of people — some easy to love, and some not so easy to love. These messages include hard-hitting truths as well as humor, all designed to help women embrace the Biblical mandate to love and to develop skills for loving others.
There will be no charge for the Bible study; however there is an optional 28-day journal that may be used as part of the 4-week study or as follow up for personal Bible study. The cost of the Journal is $6.00 and will be available for purchase on July 19. Please contact Nancy Rogers in the church office at 270-442-6038 x 210 to indicate your interest in participating and whether or not you would like for us to reserve you a copy of the Journal.
A six week, confidential look at God's plan for women experiencing infertility and secondary infertility. Through prayer, sharing personal experiences, group support, and Bible study, participants will explore the challenges of infertility and learn how to find peace in the midst of the pain. Course begins Wednesday, July 11 and runs from 6:00-7:30 pm. Call Tammy in the Discipleship Office, 442-2728, to register.
Our giving to Helping Hands/Paducah Cooperative Ministry has gone down drastically in recent months. We are receiving about 1/5th the amount that was initially given. "Donation Sunday" is the second Sunday of each month, with the next Sunday of July 8. Boxes will be placed at various entrances around the church for your convenience in donating.
The media team is looking for new team members in both the 9:00am and 11:10am service. No technical experience is required, just a willingness to serve. Anyone interested should contact Josh Kersey at jkersey@fbcpaducah.org or by calling 442-2728.
You are invited to a reception honoring the 100th birthday of Loueva Emerson Munal on Wednesday, July 11, 2007, between the hours of 2 and 4 pm at the Gaither Suites, 4960 Village Square Drive in Paducah.
Nathan Hicks has been here One Year on July 31st.
Dear First Baptist,
Words cannot express our gratitude for the acts of love and caring you showed our mother. Both our mom and dad have been blessed to be a part of such a great church. We would like to say thanks to the many friends who were always there for us. Our mom will truly be missed by many.
