Be swept away by the mystery...the majesty..the vastness...the greatness of God. Sunday Mornings at 9:00am or 11:10am.
Sunday Nights at 6:00pm.
Wednesday Nights at 6:00pm.
"Together" is such a good word.
After having lived alone in Paducah for the last month, how wonderful it was to see the 18-wheeled moving truck in the front of our new Kentucky home. All furniture and other necessary “stuff” for living was now at our house.
Most importantly, mom, dad, and boys were finally all together.
It is true. Absence does make the heart grow fonder—and the last month without the family has made me appreciate and love our little Brady bunch more than ever. Life sure is good at our house these days. We are all together.
As Christians, the word "together" should clearly characterize us.
God, who is rich in mercy, while we were dead in our trespasses "made us alive together with Christ." (Ephesians 2:5)
Luke described the early Christians by saying that "all who believed were together and had all things in common." (Acts 2:44)
Paul prayed that the Colossians might be "knit together in love." (Colossians 2:2)
Hebrews commands Christians: "And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near." (Hebrews 10:24-25)
Those who do not experience earthly death before Christ returns "will be caught up together with them (the dead in Christ) in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord." (1 Thessalonians 4:17)
While each of us has different roles and responsibilities within the body of First Baptist Church, we realize the words of Paul when he says that "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus." (Galatians 3:28) Moreover, while each of us serves individually as a witness for our great God, we also understand that our togetherness as a church is perhaps one of our best collective witnesses. Just hours away from his earthly death, Jesus himself prayed for all believers "that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me." (John 17:20)
May God grant us increased unity, and may He use our togetherness as a great witness to Himself—for the good of Paducah and beyond, and for the glory of our great God.
Revelation 22:21,
Todd Brady
Pastor
The verse is often-quoted, but certainly needs repeating. "If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land." (2 Chronicles 7:14) The Apostle Paul commands us, "Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer." (Romans 12:12)
As the church, we understand that we are a God-ordained, supernatural community of redeemed individuals. First and foremost, we are a spiritual people who are about the things of God, and at the very least, we are to be a people of prayer.
On the First Monday of every month, members of First Baptist Church have begun seeking the Lord by praying intentionally and specifically for the life and work of our body. Some set aside their lunch hours to pray specifically for the church. Some gather with fellow believers at work or in their neighborhoods to pray for God’s work among our fellowship. Others fast during the day in order to be even more focused and diligent in prayer. All in all, the goal is for God to hear the concentrated prayers of his people.
Regardless of how you go about praying on the First Monday, join with your FBC brothers and sisters throughout Paducah to ask that God would do "far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us" and that to Him will "be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever, Amen." (Ephesians 3:20-20)
Take note! With the Labor Day holiday in September, First Monday Prayer will be held on the first Tuesday, September 4. First Baptist’s chapel will be open from 6:00 A.M-6:00 P.M. on that day for those who wish to come to the Chapel and pray. See you there!
May God indeed bless us as we seek Him, and may He do among us as He so wishes.

Sunday Morning Volunteers
Be a Creation Station or UpStreet Small Group Volunteer!
Our Fall Semester begins September 3rd with Promotion Sunday. We need volunteers who can help us work with small groups of kids during our small group time (10:05 to 11:05). You could offer to help weekly or every other week. Small Group Volunteers will prepare a lesson and teach (all materials pre-assembled and ready) or will act as an assistant leader or helper. We especially need volunteers in Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and First, Second and Third grades. Can YOU help? Give Hutch a call at 442-2728 for more information.
Sunday Evening Awana Leaders
Be an Awana small group leader!
Our Awana program commences again this Fall, why don't you help us work with small groups of kids? Small Group Leaders help by listening to kids recite their scripture memory verses, and by accompanying them to their recreation time. No weekly preparation is necessary - helping in Awana is easy & fun! If you can help with preschool ages, early elementary, and preteens, give Hutch a call at 442-2728 for more information.

Dear Church Family,
Thank you all for all your prayers, cards, and loving words of encouragement during Norris's illness. Thank you for the lovely flowers. We have very special people in our church. The staff is so caring.
Love in Christ,
Norris Wells Family
I want to thank all the many people that worked together to host the United Prayer Service in our church last Sunday afternoon. This was a Spirit led prayer service, and I am sure that it blessed all that participated. This was consistent with FBC's tradition of having the talent, know how, and willing workers to do any task for the Lord, whether large or small.
I also want to encourage each member of FBC to continue with your support of the Celebration that begins September 14, at the Paducah Expo Center. And last but not least, continue to pray that God will use this event to do something special in our area.
Yours in Christ,
Bob Brantley
