Women - First Women

So many of us have enjoyed Bible study for many years and now have a bookshelf full of those courses. Others of us are just getting in the Word and are still a little intimidated by a 12-week course on one book of the Bible. This year we have something new in store for all of us. Beginning this fall we will embark on a 3-year book-by-book study of all 66 books of the Bible. Now don't feel overwhelmed! This will be a study where you cover a book of the Bible each week for just 22 weeks out of the year... and you'll have the rest o fthe year to make up any lessons that you missed. Instead of concentrating on just one area of the bible, you will gain an understanding of how the entire book fits together and how Christ is literally written on every page!

Each lesson will involve videos, 5 days of homework and a small group discussion. yes, there will be history, but there will also be application, music videos and fellowship. There is a "complete read" for theose of you who want to read every word in that week's book as well as a "quick read" designed with the working woman or busy mother in mind. I promise you, at the end of this study, we will all have a new understanding of God's word... "a lamp to my feet and a light to my path" (Psalm 119:105). For more information, check out the website: theamazingcollection.com.

This fall will also launch a new year of "Pageturners," our monthly book club and MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers). We have two "Ladies Night Out" events planned as well as mission groups and mission opportunities. Now is the time to study this brochure, pray about the opportunities in front of you and then sign up and join the women of FBC on the path to study, fellowship and service!

See you on the Path,
Brenda McElroy

Senior Adults
  1. What is the “Home Fix-It Ministry?”
This is a “handy-man” repair squad composed of 55+ members of FBC volunteering their talents-gifts by going into the homes, upon requests, of shut-ins and seniors to do minor repairs or small projects for those who cannot (for medical or physical reasons) do for themselves. In additions, the ministry will help you find someone to solve the problem, if it is too large or difficult for the “handy– man” squad to do.

  2. How does one qualify for this service?
If you are a 55+ member of First Baptist Church and financially, physically, medically, or ability-wise unable to do the task yourself, you are eligible to make a request.

  3. What kinds of services may I request help?
An example might be to replace burned out ceiling lights that you cannot or should not be climbing to do. Others might be a fallen or stopped up downspout, tighten loose hinges and loose door knobs, change furnace filters, the list is endless.

  4. What is the cost for this service?
There is no financial cost to you unless some part must be purchased to make a repair. We do request that you lift this ministry up to the Lord and that you thank Him for this service and help.

  5. How do I request this service?  Simply call the church office 442-6038, ext. 217, and ask  that a Request for Services Form be filled out.  The form will then be submitted to the Home Fix-It Ministry Team who will then be contacting you within a few days.
