| Children and Family Ministries |

While the entire corpus of biblical teaching drives our children and family ministries, it is Deuteronomy 6 in particular which shapes and forms our thinking about these important ministries. We recognize that the home is the primary place of biblical instruction, and thus we long to see parents who have been shaped and fashioned by God’s Word pass on the truths of Scripture to their children. As a church, we partner with parents in teaching and discipling their children.
Sunday Mornings
- Nursery
Nursery is available for children birth through Pre-K during both morning worship services and during Bible study, and our evening service.
- Children’s Church
Children’s Church is offered during the early service (8:30 am) for children K-3rd grade. However, the last Sunday of each month children remain with their parents throughout the early worship service. A worship supplement sheet is provided for children and will be located at the sanctuary entrances during each service.
Children remain with their parents every Sunday in the late worship service (11:00 am).
We are teaching a new series during the 2010/2011 school year… “Every Story Whispers His Name”.
 I’ve borrowed this series title from The Jesus Storybook Bible; which will provide the foundation for our weekly lessons. I will take one story a week, using it as a starting point from which to build a lesson and worship service around. My prayer is that our children will begin to recognize Christ as the main character of both testaments and that they will respond to him in worship.
I look forward to seeing your kids again on a weekly basis in Children’s Church. We are going to have a great time with drama, puppets, singing, and of course studying God’s word.
- When? Children’s Church will resume August 1. Children’s Church will only be offered during the 8:30 worship service. Please bring your kids with you to the adult service and watch for Pastor Josh, Sharon Carter, or Sheri Gholson to indicate the proper dismissal time (nothing new here).
- Where? Children’s Worship Room (upstairs and above the Creation Station).
- Who? Kindergarten – 3rd Grade. The Children’s Church team has decided to broaden the target audience by one grade level, however, there is a condition. Third graders may attend Children’s Church, but with the understanding that a transition to the adult worship service should take place by January (the middle of the school year). If you have any questions about why we are making the cutoff here, please feel free to give me a call at the Church
- Should I buy a copy of The Jesus Storybook Bible? Probably, but not for your kids to bring to Children’s Church. We will continue to work primarily from the actual Bible. Storybook bibles are great, but they are not the infallible all sufficient word of God. We have several copies of TJSB in our Church library.

- Bible Study
There are Bible Study classes for every age group (newborn-5th grade).
Wednesday Evenings
 AWANA is an evangelism and discipleship program designed for children. The founders of AWANA derived the name from the first letters of “Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed,” which is taken from 2 Timothy 2:15.
AWANA is every Wednesday evening starting on August 25, 2010 (with the exception of the summer months) from 5:45-7:15.
